CV: 1974 – Born in the sound of Bow Bells to Glaswegian Actor Father and Writer/Painter Mother. Raised in Covent Garden , Greece , Spain , Morrocco and India 1993 – 1997 Read English Literature at King's College, Cambridge . Performed in and made props for The Snow Queen (King's College Fellow's Garden) & Hummingbirds (The Octagon, Cambridge ; the Pleasance Upstairs, Edinburgh ; and The Young Vic Studio, London ). Designed costumes for L'Echarpe Blanche's production of En L'Absence d'Un Clown ( Montpellier , France ) 1995- 2005 Wrote and made - and am still writing and making - books, props and masks with and for children age 2-11 in Wales, London, Cambridge, Tokyo (Japan) and Dharamsala (India) Children are great teachers: working with them, I am reminded how to imagine vividly and create spontaneously. In the books written, illustrated and bound by hand over the past five years, I have tried to make each page come alive with the same magical excitement as first entranced me when I discovered books. I hope these small creations may be read and shared by young people all over the world – and most importantly, that they inspire children everywhere to write, paint and create beautiful books of their own. |
